From shrine to temple to mochi to deer to monkey to forest, Kyoto is the heart of Japan’s colorful history and rich tradition. It was my first time to have a put on a kimono and I rocked on the streets of the grand Kiyomizudera temple. We hiked a mountain to see and feed monkeys. Waited for hours to get a table at Kichi Kichi Omurice in Gion. Took a train to pet the deer at Nara park. Witnessed the sight of the Golden Pavillion. And struggled among hoards of people to get a good photo at the orange toriis of Fushimi Inari. The city of zen is both aesthetic and magical.
